Herman Ng

Herman Ng brings over 20 years of experience in managing bulk and packaged Dangerous Goods (DG) across the chemical supply chain. With a Bachelor of Science (Merit) in Chemistry and a Master of Science in Safety, Health, and Environmental Technology, he has worked extensively in DG management, including Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) for ports, DG yards, chemical warehouses, and emergency response.

Herman’s career includes roles as a port chemist at PSA Corporation Limited, a Senior Safety Advisor in Australia’s Hazardous Chemicals Branch, and Compliance and EHS Manager for an American multinational company. These positions provided him with in-depth expertise in the operational and regulatory requirements of importing, exporting, storing, and transporting DG globally. He has also integrated HSSE management systems and conducted audits across chemical supply chains in China and Taiwan.

As HSSE Manager for a 3rd-party logistics provider, Herman played a key role in developing and operating a 4.2-hectare chemical warehouse on Jurong Island, Singapore, managing QRA, Pollution Control Studies, and regulatory compliance. He also oversaw the HSSE aspects for a fleet of over 100 hazardous materials vehicles in Singapore and Malaysia.

Herman has furthered his expertise through roles as a maritime safety consultant for a ship classification society and a superintendent at a marine terminal handling bulk liquid cargoes.

An accredited IMDG trainer by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Herman is well-versed in international and local DG safety standards.
